PARIS, September 28th,, 2026 — Neil Sorensen has launched TenureSecurity.org, an independent website dedicated to sharing knowledge, perspectives, and evidence on land and resource tenure security. Built on LandLinks, the land governance website developed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), TenureSecurity.org has retained all of its content and resources and is building on this foundation with original analysis, new contributions, and public dialogue.
TenureSecurity.org is a personal initiative, not an organization or a business. Sorensen established it using his own funds to preserve access to valuable land governance knowledge and create an independent space for informed discussion and action.
The website maintains access to LandLinks’ country profiles, research, publications, project information, blogs, and practical resources. This collection brings together knowledge and experience that remain valuable to practitioners, researchers, policymakers, civil society organizations, and people working to secure land and resource rights around the world.
“LandLinks brought together a substantial body of knowledge developed through years of research, cooperation, and practical work,” said Sorensen, Founder of TenureSecurity.org. “I committed my own funds because I wanted that knowledge to remain accessible and useful. My ambition is to build on it, bringing in new evidence and perspectives and helping connect knowledge with action to secure people’s rights to land and natural resources.”
TenureSecurity.org’s mission is to promote understanding, dialogue, and informed action for equitable and inclusive land and resource governance. Its editorial direction reflects a commitment to evidence, practical experience, and the perspectives of rights holders.
The website connects land and resource rights with food security, climate action, women’s rights, responsible investment, conflict prevention, and natural resource governance. It gives particular attention to the knowledge and experiences of women, Indigenous Peoples, pastoralists, local communities, and others whose rights and participation in decisions are too often overlooked.
Recent contributions explore women’s land rights, pastoralism, land reform, and the relationship between the green transition and community rights. Coverage also includes perspectives on the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification’s COP17. An upcoming webinar with LandBridge International, “From Rights on Paper to Rights in Practice,” will examine practical barriers women face in securing and exercising their land rights.
Sorensen also intends to use TenureSecurity.org to advocate for secure land and resource rights, taking up specific issues where evidence, public engagement, and attention to affected communities’ perspectives can help strengthen accountability and influence decisions.
Researchers, practitioners, community organizations, public institutions, and others working on land issues are invited to contribute research, commentary, case studies, practical tools, and information about projects and events. Contributions and collaboration will help expand the website’s usefulness and the range of voices it represents.
