RMI mineral sourcing tools and assessment

The RMI due diligence overview describes support for identifying and managing risks across primary and secondary mineral supply chains. Its resources include reporting templates, risk information, supplier training, and standards for assessing smelters, refiners, and recyclers. RMI links this work to the OECD Due Diligence Guidance and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

The Responsible Minerals Assurance Process uses independent third-party assessments of facility management systems and sourcing practices. RMI explains that these assessments examine the processes supporting responsible procurement; they do not validate a mineral shipment or establish the performance of an individual mine. Readers should use the relevant standards and facility information when considering a specific supply chain.

Connections with land and resource governance

Land rights and governance professionals can use these sources to examine where supply-chain due diligence meets wider resource governance questions. Browse the critical minerals collection and the artisanal and small-scale mining collection for related research, projects, and policy material.
